Magic lantern canon eos 100d2/20/2023 ![]() ![]() I'm not sure if the capture card itself is just total garbage, or if its the HDMI output. The camera appears to be sending out a letterboxed 16:9 image squashed into a 4:3 frame, so theres huge black bars on all sides, and the image quality is even noisier than using USB. Thinking i would benefit from switching over to HDMI output, and after reading the various info around these cameras and HDMI, i installed Magic Lantern, turned off Global Draw, and hooked up the HDMI cable to one of the cheap amazon capture cards. The image also appeared to have some large black borders on all sides. Magic Lantern is free open source software enhancing the functionality of compatible / supported Canon EOS full-frame and Canon EOS APS-C cameras. Google suggests this USB connection mode only outputs data at 576p or thereabouts so i figured things could be better. There was a lot of noise, and the resolution looked fairly low. Initially i tried to use the Canon EOS webcam utility, which worked, but the image quality was a bit meh. I've got an older Canon EOS 100D (essentially a 700D in a more compact body) that i've been trying to setup as a webcam. ![]() I've done quite a bit of reading on this but i'd appreciate some advice. ![]()
